HOW IT ALL BEGAN
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Why raise awareness of the importance of bees?
Drawing attention to the environment and the protection of bio diversity is an invitation to everyone to be the driving force behind the change for a new development model which is more sustainable for the environment and the planet where we live, even in an urban environment.
What is the meaning behind ‘happy to be’?
Today, more than ever before, the gratitude for being, and for life as it is, with all of the weaknesses and strengths in this world, travelling a path with meaning.
The materials are eco-friendly. The brass closure accessory, made by a master goldsmith using the ancient technique of lost-wax casting, is antiqued so that over time the shine or ageing will transform with each use of the bag. This renders each handcrafted bag different, unique and imperfect – just like each one of us in this world.
About Me
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by nature, creation, diversity, coexistence, the creation of so much beauty, even in the most inaccessible places.
After a personal experience that led me back to the Essential, and to Nature, I decided to use my experience as a bag designer for big fashion brands to create something else: I wish to seek out and communicate an expression of beauty, as unique and imperfect beings constantly searching for the relationship of beauty between the creation and the creator.
I created the ‘Happy to bee’ brand, and in my work I look for natural, eco-friendly materials that I can use to create bags, backpacks, clutch purses, some of which are transformable – just like human beings; imperfect, unique and unexpected.
With Happy to bee, I wanted to create an eco-sustainable shopping experience through which each of us can choose to create life and hope, even by adopting a beehive in the Happy to bee oasis.
Each bag is created to be unique and eco-friendly, and after studying the design and carrying out tests on the material, it is made by a small Florentine artisan.
Some bags have a brass closure accessory made by a master goldsmith using the ancient technique of lost-wax casting and then individually antiqued. This technique is known for giving the accessory a shine and colour that will change over time with use. In this way, each handcrafted bag will be different, unique and imperfect, affirming the brand’s aim to celebrate each one’s happiness to be with a sense of their own uniqueness.
